Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox Prop Pick: Will Yordan Alvarez Show Discipline Against Red Sox?
Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox Prop Pick: Will Yordan Alvarez Show Discipline Against Red Sox?
I will be taking a different approach to Sunday's slate in the MLB today. We have had a ton of success with hit parlays as of late, but today I will be looking at just a straight prop. Yordan Alvarez has been on fire at the plate as of late, and I will be looking to target his props today. I am going to be taking him to record a walk today, and I believe he is in a great spot to do so against Boston's lefty James Paxton.

Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction
James Paxton has been a very walk-prone pitcher this season, as he has allowed 50 walks in 99 innings pitched so far, ranking in the 13th percentile overall on the year. This is very high and I love to see this when taking a batter walk prop. With how Yordan Alvarez has been hitting the ball, he is definitely going to be seeing less pitches to hit. When you pair that with a walk prone pitcher, it is a recipe for success. He has also now walked in five of his last six games with seven total walks. Additionally, Yordan has walked in five of his last six games vs. the Boston Red Sox, which shows me that they are more careful with him when they pitch to him. I expect both of these trends to be extended here today in a great spot for Yordan.
Not only do the trends and matchups look good for this prop today, but with today's game being a road game for the Astros, Yordan Alvarez is much more likely to get a fifth plate appearance, which boosts our chances tremendously. When Yordan Alvarez gets five or more plate appearances, he has recorded a walk in 12 of the last 15 games. All things considered, I'd expect this price to be much lower than it is so at a price like +145, this is a no-brainer to me.
