The White Sox have been the embarrassment of baseball this year, as they are sitting at 28–91 and have absolutely no playoff aspirations, even if they were to win every game the rest of the year. On the other side, the Yankees are currently tied with Baltimore for first place in the AL East at 70–49. What should we expect in this series opener tonight?

The White Sox are testing out one of their prospects tonight as Ky Bush makes the second start of his MLB career. Bush had a 2.12 ERA at the AA level in 14 starts this year before getting called up for his debut last week against the Athletics. The start did not go exactly as he had hoped, as he gave up three runs in just four innings to the Athletics in a game the White Sox lost 5-1. Tonight, he goes up against a very potent lineup that can hit long balls with the best of them.
My favorite player in this game is Gleyber Torres of the Yankees to hit a homer at +500 over at BetMGM. Torres has been hitting very well this month with a .323 average in August and he also has an eight-game hit streak going. However, he does not have a home run in the month so far, and the last one he hit was on July 24. However, Torres has been crushing left-handed pitching recently and has hit much harder against southpaws this year.
Of the 10 home runs Torres has hit this year, five have come against left-handed pitching despite having less than a third of his at-bats against lefties. He has a .731 OPS against left-handed pitching and just a .644 OPS against right-handed pitching. over the last 30 days, Torres has been third-best on the Yankees with a 1.058 OPS against left-handed pitching. Although Torres may not be the first name you think of in the Yankees lineup when you think of home runs, he can still hit them and has been hitting a lot of them against lefties.
