5 minChicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros Prediction: Will Garrett Crochet, White Sox Struggle in Houston?
The Houston Astros host the Chicago White Sox in a three game weekend series from Minute Maid Park in Texas starting tonight. These two teams enter the series in completely opposite situations, as the Astros have been one of the hottest teams in baseball recently, while the White Sox have been one of the worst teams I can remember in my lifetime.

Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros Prediction
The Astros have stormed ahead of the Mariners to take the lead in the AL West and now sit at a record of 65–55 after going 13–7 over their last 20 games. Meanwhile, the White Sox continue to be the embarrassment of the MLB and now sit at 29–93 after going 2-18 over their last 20 games and nearly tying the baseball record for most losses in a row.
Starting for the White Sox tonight will be Garrett Crochet of the White Sox. Many people were surprised that Crochet was not dealt at the trade deadline, and it seems like it may have gotten in his head a little bit, as he has really struggled since the All-Star break. After being an All-Star selection and playing in the All-Star game, Crochet has failed to record a single quality start. He had a 4.85 ERA in July and now an 11.37 ERA to start August.
Perhaps Crochet was hoping to go to a contender, and instead, he’s faltering a bit after realizing the White Sox season is over and he doesn’t have to perform as well and worry about the playoffs.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Spencer Arrighetti starts for the Astros. After a rocky start to his rookie season, Arrighetti has actually been pitching better as of late. Arighetti has a 5.14 ERA on the season, but over his last five starts, four have been quality starts. He has pitched very well recently against some of the best teams in baseball, and his ERA does not tell the full story of how he is pitching at this current moment. He should be able to stay hot against the worst team in baseball, who have seemed to struggle to put up even a few runs each game.
Even with Crochet on the mound, I am not losing any confidence that this Astros team is simply in too good of a spot to not blow out the White Sox tonight. This may seem like the “easy” play in this game, but sometimes you just cannot overthink it. The Astros should absolutely win this game by multiple runs tonight.
