3 Minute ReadTimberwolves vs. Nuggets Prediction: Can Nikola Jokic, Nuggets Bounce Back from 3-1 Deficit After Anthony Edwards Injury?
The Minnesota Timberwolves head to Denver tonight for a pivotal Game 5, and I’m backing the Nuggets to finally make a statement.
This feels like a desperation spot where Denver comes out swinging.
Yes, the Nuggets have underwhelmed in this series. Yes, Nikola Jokic has been held below his usual absurd standard. But this is where I think the market is still pricing too much off what we’ve seen and not enough off what has changed.

Timberwolves vs. Nuggets Prediction Game 5
And what has changed is massive.
Minnesota is without Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo.
That’s a combined 41 points per game missing from the lineup, but it’s even bigger than the raw scoring. Edwards is the engine of everything Minnesota does offensively, and DiVincenzo’s shooting and spacing matter immensely.
Without those two, the Timberwolves become far easier to scheme against.
That’s where Denver can finally breathe defensively.
I expect Michael Malone to tighten everything up, load attention toward Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels, and force lesser creators into uncomfortable offensive roles.
That’s a huge edge.
And offensively, I think this is where Denver positively regresses.
The Nuggets have been one of the best perimeter shooting teams all year and have somehow been ice cold from three in this series. That doesn’t continue forever.
At some point, those shots start falling.
And if there was ever a spot for it, it’s an elimination game at home.
This is still the best offense in basketball by regular season efficiency. This is still a championship core. And this is still a team led by the best player in the world.
I’m expecting Jokic to look much more like Jokic tonight.
Minnesota has done a remarkable job making him uncomfortable, but without Edwards on the other side forcing Denver to trade punches, I think the game tilts back toward the Nuggets.
There’s also a strong situational angle.
Teams down 3-1 and favored at home have historically responded well against the number, and it makes sense. These are max urgency spots.
And beyond urgency, I think there’s pride.
Denver has been embarrassed at times in this series. I expect a much different level of physicality and focus tonight.
Even if Aaron Gordon is less than 100 percent, I still like the matchup. If he goes, it only strengthens the case.
The biggest point for me is this:
I don’t think Minnesota has enough offense left to hang if Denver plays even a B-plus game.
And I think Denver is live to play its best game of the series.

With a depleted Timberwolves backcourt, a desperate home favorite, and major shooting regression likely coming, I see Denver winning this one comfortably.
