This Weekend's Best Bets: The Five Best Bets for the Weekend Ahead

Unfortunately, the Olympics is no longer active this weekend.

However, the good news is that the following weekend, we'll have college football to prepare for. Other good news is that the WNBA has returned and will actually begin the second half tonight!

Here are my five favorite picks for the weekend slate in the sports world.

Favorite 5 Weekend Picks

WNBA: Seattle Storm vs. Atlanta Dream: Storm -6.5 (-114) (Bet $114 to collect $214)

Friday, August 16, 7:30 PM ET

The Seattle Storm went from 78.8 points per game last season to 84.3 points per game this season. The offense has come a long way since last year, scoring 92.3 points per 100 possessions and adding 6.7 net points per game.

Meanwhile, Atlanta is dead last in points per game, scoring just 75.2 points. They're also -6 in net points and have shot a league-worse 41.1% field goal percentage this season.

Back the Storm out of the break.

WNBA: Connecticut Sun vs. Dallas Wings: Under 161(-110) (Bet $110 to collect $210)

Friday, August 16, 9:30 PM ET

The Connecticut Sun have allowed just 72.9 points per game from the opposition this year, ranking first in that category. They will now take on a Dallas team that has added just six wins all year.

The Wings aren't terrible offensively. However, the Sun play slower and are always defensive-minded. After all, the Sun have scored below 80 points per game this season. Don't expect either team to get 80+ points.

WNBA: New York Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces: Aces -2.5 (-114) (Bet $114 to collect 214)

Saturday, August 17, 4:00 PM ET

The New York Liberty will have already played a game against the Sparks before this one. Meanwhile, the Aces will have a couple more days to prepare for the Liberty at home.

These Aces-Liberty games are always classics. Yet, almost the entire starting lineup for the Aces played in the Olympics and with a couple of extra days off, it'll be a major difference.

Big 3 Championship: 3's Company vs. Bivouac -2.5 (-114) (Bet $114 to collect $214)

Saturday, August 17 - 5:00 PM ET

The Big 3 Championship is this weekend. Bivouac will take on 3's Company in the Finals. Bivouac knocked off Tri-State last week, 50-40. They held Tri-State to just 18 points in the second half to close out the win. Bivouac has been the most consistent team in the Big 3 this season, thanks to Corey Brewer and Garlon Green leading the way. On the other hand, 3's Company squeezed past the Enemies. Michael Beasley scored 32 points and added 16 rebounds in the win. Ultimately, it was a one-man show, which I don't think will help 3's Company in the finals.

UFC 305: Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus du Plessis: Du Plessis (+100) (Bet $100 to collect $200)

Sunday, August 17, Approx 12:30 AM ET

Dricus de Plessis will defend his UFC Middleweight title against Israel Adesanya, who hasn't fought in nearly a year. Adesanya opened as a -125 favorite. But that price has since dropped leading up to the event. Adesanya lost his middleweight title to Alex Pereira at UFC 281 and then lost to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. With Du Plessis doubling his striking output compared to Adesanya, we'll roll with Du Plessis to earn the win at +100.
