Thursday Night Football Player Props Week 3: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets for Giants vs. 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers host the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to kick off Week 3 of the NFL season. The 49ers are hefty favorites in this game, with a line of -10.5 at the time of writing. They have lived up to their expectations so far this season, blazing out to a 2-0 start.
The Giants are coming off a nice comeback win, but they have not impressed so far despite their 1-1 record. They failed to score over the first six quarters of their season, but the offense finally got hot in the second half of the last game, scoring 31 in the last two-quarters last week. Hopefully, the offenses stay hot because I have two picks, one for each team, on anytime touchdowns.
Thursday Night Football Anytime TD Picks
Daniel Jones Anytime Touchdown (+340) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Everyone knows by this point that Daniel Jones had legs. Jones has averaged 32.3 rush yards per game over the 56 games he has played in his career, and last year, he really got comfortable taking the ball himself, hitting 708 rushing yards on 120 carries (5.9 YPC).
Last season, Jones finished just behind Saquon Barkley's ten rushing touchdowns with seven of his own. Jones was second on the Giants in touchdowns (non-passing) last season and could easily do so again this year, as he is not afraid to take it himself into the end zone. Jones scored a rushing touchdown last week as well.
With Saquon Barkley out for this game, Jones may very well be the best chance at a rushing touchdown for the Giants tonight. Also, if they get to the goal line or have a flag in the end zone that puts them on the 1-yard line, Jones may very well jump over the pile for a touchdown. There are many ways he can score in this game, but anyway, you look at it, I love the value at +340.
Elijah Mitchell Anytime Touchdown (+260) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
We touched on Mitchell in the same game parlay, which you can read here if you are interested. Mitchell is getting more and more traction throughout today because people realize you cannot give a guy nearly 50 rushes in a five-day span. Christian McCaffrey ran 20 times on Sunday afternoon and had three receptions, totaling 23 touches. His usage was very high in that game, and he played in 100% of offensive snaps.
Kyle Shanahan even touched on this early today, stating, "We have to get Elijah Mitchell in the rotation more". Does that always mean they will use a guy more the next game when coaches say that to the media? No, not always. However, I believe him this time because Mitchell did not get a single carry on Sunday against the Rams, and this is a short week with just three days of rest.
Mitchell has been with San Francisco for a while now, and with Jeff Wilson gone, Mitchell should pretty much get every carry behind McCaffrey. With the 49ers expected to win this game by a large margin, I would not be surprised to see a lot of Mitchell in the second half. With goal-line carries being the most physical, if the 49ers get to the goal line in the second half, I think Mitchell gets some opportunities.
