Thursday Night Football is back with another divisional showdown, this time with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers out west.
Both of these squads are looking for a turnaround after a sloppy last few weeks, but who will be able to come through. History is on the 49ers' side as they look to continue their dominance against the Seahawks. Will Geno Smith be able to break the trend?
Let's check out this DraftKings Pick 6 entry for TNF tonight via DraftKings Sportsbook to see if we are taking over or under on the stars in 49ers vs. Seahawks on Thursday Night Football!
DraftKings Pick6 Picks for 49ers vs. Seahawks
Leg 1: Deebo Samuel Over 73.5 Rushing + Rec Yards
Deebo Samuel is off to a slower start this year, but he is a staple of the San Francisco 49ers offense, and they will turn to him when the going gets tough. After dropping a few winnable games, the Niners are in a must-win situation on the road in an NFC West divisional battle tonight. Deebo has gotten healthier each week, and he is ready to feast against a weak Seahawks defense. They will use him in jet sweeps and across the middle of the field in the passing game, so we are going to target his rushing + receiving tonight to better capture his success.
Leg 2: Geno Smith Under 249.5 Passing Yards
This is a fishy line, and we are going to fade it for that reason. Birthday boy Geno Smith has smashed over 280+ passing yards in his last four games, with the only miss coming when he threw under 200 yards in the opening game against a stiff Broncos defense. Yet despite his success, it's not even at 250 yards at home, in a game they should be trailing and needing Smith passing yards to make up the gap.
Denver only allows 158 passing yards per game, fifth in the NFL. The other defenses Smith faced were very porous, and he capitalized against them, with several come from behind wins. While they should be in a similar position today, San Francisco is about to buckle down hard in this NFC West matchup. The Niners have lost three of their last four games, not how they expected to start as defending NFC Champs. They have dominated against Seattle in the last few years, and that won't change tonight as Kyle Shanahan and co. will put the clamps on in prime time. With all signs pointing to Smith going over his passing yards, this line has continued to fall today, and he won't quite hit it against the 12th best passing defense.
Leg 3: Geno Smith Over 0.5 Interceptions Thrown
Let's continue on the fade Geno train here, even if it is his birthday. The 49ers have been a house of horrors for him during his time in Seattle, despite a great deal of success against other teams. In his three matchups against them, he's never thrown over the 250 passing yard total mentioned above, and he's also only thrown for one touchdown. Meanwhile, Geno has two interceptions in those three games. History shows he's more likely to throw a pick than a TD, and with the Niners defense knowing they have to step up after underperforming so far, they will be ballhawking for Smith as he drops back for more than 30 pass attempts in a trailing effort. One of those or more will be an INT tonight.
Leg 4: Tyler Lockett Under 3.5 Receptions
If we are projecting the 49ers defense to step up, the ball won't be able to spread around this offense like it has in weeks past. DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been receiving the majority of targets and attention, and there won't be a ton of opportunities for Tyler Lockett tonight. Despite being a savvy veteran, Geno will only complete so many passes against this Niners' defense, and we are going to count on Lockett being the odd man out tonight. He's hit over this number in the last three games, at four and five receptions, but will regress tonight in prime time as the ball goes to DK often.
