Calgary Stampeders CFL 2026

Tiger-Cats vs. Stampeders Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest CFL Odds for Saturday, August 29th

Hamilton travels to Calgary on Saturday afternoon with both teams trying to stay firmly involved in their respective playoff races. The quarterback situation has changed significantly for the Stampeders, but a favorable matchup and extra preparation time give Calgary an opportunity to repeat its dominant win over the Tiger-Cats earlier this month.

Tiger-Cats vs. Stampeders Prediction: Can Stampeders Right the Ship Without Starting QB Vernon Adams on Saturday?

Hamilton and Calgary kick off at 3:00 PM ET at McMahon Stadium, with the Stampeders favored by 2.5 points and the total at 55.5. Calgary is 4-6 coming out of its Week 12 bye, while Hamilton enters at 4-7 after losing 39-20 to Toronto last weekend.

The major complication is Vernon Adams Jr. being ruled out with a head injury. Josh Love will start after completing 6 of 10 passes for 58 yards and an interception when Adams exited Calgary's 30-26 loss to BC two weeks ago. That is a significant downgrade from Adams, who has thrown 22 touchdowns against only two interceptions this season.

Tiger-Cats vs. Stampeders Prediction

Calgary does get Dedrick Mills back in the starting lineup, however, and the defense gives Love considerably more room for error than the quarterback change might suggest. That was evident the first time these teams met, when Calgary went into Hamilton and crushed the Tiger-Cats 44-20. The Stampeders scored defensive touchdowns on both an interception return and a fumble return in that game.

Hamilton has also lost three consecutive meetings against Calgary. The Tiger-Cats did briefly generate momentum with a 26-19 upset of Saskatchewan, but they followed it by allowing Toronto to pull away for a 39-20 loss in which the Argonauts generated 434 yards of net offense.

Tre Ford gets another start after throwing for a career-high 356 yards against Toronto. The yardage is encouraging, particularly against a Calgary secondary allowing 329 passing yards per game, but Hamilton still scored only 20 points and Ford did not throw a touchdown. Moving the ball between the 20s means little if those drives continue ending without majors.

The schedule helps Calgary. The Stampeders had a full bye to recover and prepare for the quarterback adjustment, while Hamilton is playing a second consecutive road game after a physical loss in Toronto. Calgary is also 5-1 against the Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium since 2017, adding another reason to expect a stronger home performance.

Tiger-Cats vs. Stampeders Pick

Adams being unavailable prevents this from becoming one of the stronger favorites of the week, but the spread has adjusted accordingly. Calgary only needs to win by a field goal, has already beaten Hamilton by 24 this month and can lean on Mills and a defense that completely changed the first meeting. After the bye and the frustrating late loss to BC, this is a strong bounce-back spot.
