St. Louis Blues vs. Minnesota Wild Prediction: Can Wild Win First Home Game Under New Coach?
You typically won’t get many hockey plays out of me, but a side caught my eye on tonight’s NHL slate. Let’s take a look at this STL vs. MIN game…

St. Louis Blues vs. Minnesota Wild Prediction
The Minnesota Wild are currently on a seven game losing streak. They fired their coach yesterday, hiring John Hynes to take over his duties. A system I will always stand by, in any sport, is backing a team in their first game since firing their head coach. Look at the run the Raiders just went on after firing their coach, covering the following three games.
The Wild have lost seven games in a row, but what better way to hit the “reset button” than in their new coach’s inaugural game? I was also shocked to see them laying -160 on the moneyline against a Blues team who's won three of their last four games and has a winning record. That is some serious respect from the oddsmakers…
St. Louis has been overperforming and Minnesota has been underperforming this season, hence the coaching change for the Wild. There is still plenty of season left, and we’ve seen teams (like the Blues) turn their season around in the blink of an eye under a new coach.
Let’s sell high on the Blues, and buy low on this Minnesota team that will be looking to impress their new coach. Filip Gustavsson hasn’t earned a win in net since October 24th, and will be looking to turn the page under Coach Hynes. Again, isn’t it a little weird that Minnesota is laying -160 in this spot? If you bet lines, and not teams, you will be a significantly better sports bettor.
The Wild could be laying -200 on the moneyline tonight and I’d still find some way to back them. Minnesota will look like a completely different team in the first night of Coach Hynes’ reign.
