We have a small NHL slate tonight, but there are some solid matchups I am looking to dive into. To kick off our evening, I want to dive into arguably my favorite total on the board tonight, although it may be one that slips past the blind eye. The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the States for a clash with the New York Islanders at UBS Arena, in what I think can be a really great game.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders Prediction
New York is in a weird spot right now. Star netminder Ilya Sorokin has been fine this season, but is still sporting a GAA north of three and that is partially because of the way the guys in front of him are playing this season. A team generally known for defensive prowess and a hard, grind it out style of hockey has been playing with a lot of pace this season, and has found themselves in plenty of high scoring affairs. Four of their last five games have gone over with them contributing plenty.
They are also down three of their top six defensemen which is part of the reason they are not only giving up more goals, but playing with more pace. Ever since the changes they made earlier this season, the squad is different. They are 14-11-1 to the over this season, and 11-3 for the over as a money line underdog like they are tonight. Three of the last four meetings between these teams have gone over this number, with the Islanders taking the last meeting 7-2 in New York. Toronto has been playing great lately, have all the stars we need to help this one pop off, and should be motivated considering they it handed to them last time these teams played.
