Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Rangers Prediction
Toronto is playing the second leg of a back-to-back tonight after they lost to the Islanders in overtime last night. Joseph Woll is out and Iyla Samsonov got the nod between the pipes last night, so I expect Martin Jones tonight, and I am not phased by that. Jones had a few decent outings in Seattle, but ultimately lost the job for a reason, and should have some rust to knock off tonight. Toronto is a team capable of winning on the back-to-back and they are incredibly talented, I just think this is a bad spot for them on the road.
The Rangers looked awful in back-to-back losses to Ottawa and Washington, but righted the ship in a 4-1 win over the elite Los Angeles Kings. With extra rest under their belts tonight and a chance to catch the Leafs tired, I expect a strong effort from one of the top Stanley Cup contenders. Igor Shesterkin should be between the pipes for the Rangers, and I am willing to put my money on him against just about anyone on the planet. The Vezina trophy winner is still without a shutout on the season, but is 10-6 with a 2.83 GAA and .908 save percentage.
