Our new racing 'capper John DaSilva previews the card at Delaware Park on Monday

Our racing handicapper John DaSilva has picked through the card at Delaware Park on Monday and found three strong selections for you to wager on.

John is the Parx morning line odds maker and well-known handicapper for numerous other racing sites in the past, follow him on Twitter here! He's going to be joining Oddschecker with his racing picks throughout the working week.

RACE 1 – PICK: #4 General Paddy (9/5 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

The key to the race is the pace scenario. With Expect Drama In the race, there should be a strong pace up front. This should set things up very well for General Paddy to come off the pace and get the victory. Daniel Centeno has started off the meet slow, but he is more than capable of heating up. This could be the horse to light his torch to get things started. The Jamie Ness entry of Final Prospect and V.I.P Code are both tough, but I expect one to scratch and the other to get caught in the stretch drive.

RACE 2 – PICK: #6 Pimm and Proper (6-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

One of the hottest barns in the Mid-Atlantic circuit the past three months has been the Ollie Figgins III barn. During that time, the barn has gone 11 for 53 on dirt (21%), with all the victories coming at Charles Town with placings at Laurel and Mountaineer. Here Pimm and Proper drops to lowest claiming level of her career and returns to a one turn sprint. With the jockey change to Xavier Perez, she should set or be close to early pace and go on to victory.

RACE 7 – PICK: #1 Busster Von Trappe (30-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

In a race like this, sometimes the bet is to have faith in a trainer to have the horse in great shape. Busster Von Trappe was placed first via disqualification when making his seasonal debut going a mile over this course. He is trained by Fair Hill based trainer Fenneka Bentley, who also trains steeplechase horses. There is no doubt that Fenneka has been building up Busster’s endurance and at 30-1, he is worth taking a shot in this race. If the race is moved to the main track, Market Mover, coming off a second-place finish in his local debut, would be the play.
