Rob Handley is backing Joe Root to shine in the final Test of the series in Chennai.
India v England Fifth Test: Friday 3:30am, Sky Sports 2
A series defeat was always likely for the tourists and its confirmation in Mumbai has highlighted the gulf in class between the two sides in sub continental conditions. Virat Kohli and Ravi Ashwin are simply too much for most sides in these conditions and England are certainly not the first or last to be bamboozled by their class. At 1/2, I think you’d be extremely unwise to miss out on India winning the final test at Chennai, a ground where an Indian loss has not been recorded in eight test matches.
The balance of England’s bowling attack has drawn criticism from many high profile pundits, who believe they are yet to get their attack right for any pitch they have played. For my money, it’s not so much about the balance of attack but the quality on these pitches along with the home sides batting know how on turning decks. Kohli, Vijay and Pujara especially could all go big at any time so a 8/13 investment on India to be the team of the top batsmen is a wise choice.
Looking towards England where Joe Root has been the only English batsmen that has looked capable of scoring runs consistently against this attack. He has threatened to score more hundreds than the one he has returned on the tour registering three fifties, so an investment at 5/1 is a worthy one.
