Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich - Sunday, 19:30 BT Sport 1
It’s been a busy summer for Germany’s ‘Big Two’ as Carlo Ancelotti’s replaced Pep at Bayern, while there’s been another upheaval of players at Dortmund. Hummels is the latest player to make the switch from the Westfalenstadion to the Allianz and that’ll no doubt add some further spice to this encounter but he can ask Mario Gotze how to deal with the pressure. The new BVB number 10 will probably be booed by both sets of fans after leaving Dortmund for Bayern and now going back again.
The Bavarians have struggled somewhat in pre-season, losing against both Milan and Real in the International Champions Cup, but they have won the Super Cup in the last three seasons. BVB started the Champions Cup in spectacular fashion, thumping Mourinho’s United 4-1, but they’ve since lost to Man City on penalties and were held to a draw by the European superpower that is David Moyes’s Sunderland.
These two sides have met numerous times in recent years but crucially this fixture takes place in Dortmund, where Bayern have only won twice in their last seven attempts in all competitions. With Dortmund getting back to form last season and making some exciting additions in the window, it’s Bayern that have more questions to answer under new manager Ancelotti. As a result we’re siding with Tuchel’s men in this one and we’re backing their top scorer last season, Aubameyang to find the net against Bayern in the Super Cup for the third time in a row.
