Freiburg v RB Leipzig – Friday 19:30, BT Sport Europe
RB Leipzig moved clear of Bayern Munich this week after Bayern lost to Dortmund, and this Friday they travel to Freiburg with hopes of extending their remarkable winning run. The newly-promoted side may be ‘the most hated club in Germany’ for their aggressive use of corporate sponsorship rather than community involvement, but their meteoric ascent up the Bundesliga table shows no signs of slowing, and they will travel south-west as favourites to continue their dominant form.
Freiburg have dropped points only once at home this term, but a growing injury list will pose some problems ahead of one of the biggest matches of their season. Top scorer Max Philipp and centre-back Caglar Söyüncü suffered knocks at the weekend that will rule them out of this week’s game, and it is hard to see a squad low on match fitness and confidence (having been knocked out of the cup and lost in two successive league matches recently) faring well against Leipzig. After they came from behind to win against Leverkusen last weekend, RB Leipzig will want to take no chances against a team whose loss against Wolfsburg in early November ended a run of seven wins in nine home league games.
Leipzig look the stronger team despite injury concerns of their own in defence, but we think they’ll start slowly against a team that loves playing at home (Freiburg won their opening four home matches this season). Leipzig have drawn at half-time in five of the seven matches they’ve won this season(eight of 11 overall) and with Freiburg struggling for form we’re backing Draw/Leipzig.£10 Free Credit and a £500 Deposit Bonus
