NEC v PSV – Saturday 18:45, Sky Sports 5
NEC host PSV at the Stadion de Goffert on Saturday evening on the back of disappointing results for both sides before the international break. NEC had to play for over half an hour with 10 men after a von Haacke red card and were comfortably beaten 2-0 by AZ Alkmaar. Meanwhile, PSV dropped their first points of the season after being held to a goalless draw by FC Groningen.
NEC achieved a comfortable mid-table finish last term largely due to their home form: their record of W11-D2-L4 meant that they picked up three quarters of their 46 points at home. They also had a fairly decent record against sides in the top-half (W4-D2-L3), but two of those defeats were against the runaway top-two of Ajax and PSV.
Indeed, their record against PSV is poor to say the least, having only picked up a single point in the last eight matches between the two sides. As such, all routes point to a PSV win and we are going to take a chance on them winning to nil, given that three of their last four victories over their hosts have been without conceding.
