Barcelona v Real Betis - Saturday 17:15, Sky Sports 3
Back-to-back La Liga winners Barcelona begin their campaign against a Real Betis side who impressed in their first season back in the division. The men from Andalusia have a new man at the helm however in ex Sunderland and Brighton boss, Gus Poyet.
Luis Enrique’s side once again made the Nou Camp a fortress last season (W16-D1-L2), with half of those wins coming by at least three goals. Their recent record against Betis isn’t too shabby either as they’ve won seven of their last eight and their last four at home, scoring 15 goals in the process.
Both clubs have been busy over the summer and while Betis have looked to strengthen the spine of their side with additions such as Antonio Sanabria from Roma, Barca have looked to the future with the likes of Umtiti and Gomes. As such, the nucleus of the team has hardly changed and when a team scores 112 goals in a season, who can blame them? Messi, Suarez and the absent Neymar accounted for 90 of those goals and it’s the little Argentine who has scored seven goals in his last six appearances against Betis that we are backing to score the first goal.
