Leganes v Atletico Madrid - Saturday 21:15, Sky Sports 3
In their first ever season in La Liga, Leganes got their campaign off to the perfect start as they won 1-0 at Celta Vigo, who finished up in 6th last term. They face another tough task here as they host Atletico Madrid, but Simeone’s men were held to a 1-1 draw in their opener at home to promoted Alaves in a dramatic finish to the game that saw new signing Kevin Gameiro score a 93rd minute penalty, only for Alaves to equalise in the 95th.
Atleti were without the suspended Griezmann for the visit of Alaves, but Euro 2016’s top scorer is available to line up here and add some much-needed firepower to their front line. They were excellent on the road last term as they won 13 of their 19 road games, while their record when travelling to bottom-six teams since 2013/14 is W12-D2-L4 as they were ahead at half-time in half of these games, while they kept a clean sheet in 10.
Leganes were only beaten twice at home last term in the Segunda, but this is a different kettle of fish against an Atletico side that have won five of their six trips to promoted teams in the last couple of seasons. Since they led at the break in all six of these games and are also boosted by Griezmann’s return, we’re backing Atleti to be ahead at half-time and full-time.
