Madrid should win this one but expect the visitors to find the net at some point.
Real Madrid v Villarreal – Wednesday 19:00, Sky Sports 2
Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were both absent for Madrid’s trip to Espanyol on Sunday but that did nothing to stop them marching forward to their 16th successive La Liga victory. The star-duo should probably return here as they attempt to make it 17 in a row when they take on unbeaten Villarreal.
Since returning to La Liga in 2013/14, Villarreal have finished in the top-six in all three seasons though they’ve won just once against the Big Two. On the road they’ve picked up just one point from the six tricky matches as they’ve shipped at least three goals on four occasions though they’ve failed to score themselves just twice.
Under Zidane, half of Real Madrid’s 24 matches have had Over 3.5 Goals as they’ve conceded in 14 of the games. Bale and Ronaldo have started just three times at home in the league under Zidane and Madrid have scored at least four, and thus unsurprisingly won all three, each time. Regardless of whether they start or not we expect goals.
It’s a little surprising to see a home win with the Yellow Submarine scoring at 2.80 given both sides have netted in 43 of Madrid’s 83 home victories over the past five seasons.
