Norwich v Charlton
Norwich landed us a 10/1 winner with their 2-0 win over QPR last Wednesday and we think they can carry that home form into this competition. They beat Swindon at home in the last round and were excellent at Carrow Road in the Championship last term, winning 15 of their 23 matches as they had the 3rd best home record in the division. Charlton have lost their only League One away game this season and were poor travellers last term as they managed only five wins on the road. What’s more, Championship sides progressed in 13 of 14 ties at this stage of this competition last term, with the exception a defeat for Burton against Liverpool. Eight of Norwich’s last 11 home wins were without conceding and Charlton have generally looked short of an attacking threat so far this term, with their three top scorers from last term Holmes, Magennis and Ajose not looking quite as sharp, whilst Lookman’s move to Everton in January also didn’t help. We’re backing Norwich to Win to Nil.
Cardiff v Burton
Cardiff have gotten off to an excellent start this term, particularly at home where they’ve beaten Aston Villa 3-0 and Sheffield Utd 2-0 as the signings of forwards Tomlin and Ward have had an immediate effect. What’s more, they’ve already won 1-0 at Burton on the opening day of the season. Burton were odds-on to go down at the start of last season but they defied those odds to stay up by a point, though they were once again favourites to face the drop this time around and look to have a real battle on their hands if the start of the season is anything to go by. They’ve shipped six goals in their two away games and Cardiff look a great price to win.
