Bury v Southend - Saturday 15:00
Just when Phil Brown appeared to have found a winning formula for Southend, fate appears to have intervened with a deluge of misfortune ahead of the trip to Gigg Lane. The Shrimpers could be without six key players and if that turns out to be the case, they could get a walloping against a capable Bury side still smarting from a run of six straight league defeats.
Make no mistake, Southend were absolutely dreadful before the return of Anthony Wordsworth in late September but the all-action midfielder, who facilitated a switch to 4-4-2, will be suspended for this game after picking up his fifth yellow card (in nine matches) in the late FA Cup defeat at Millwall. On that basis alone, the home win is decent value at 13/10.
However, compunded by injuries to keeper Mark Oxley, centre back Ryan Innis, strikers Nile Ranger and Simon Cox, plus an international call-up for right back Jason Demetriou and we could be looking at a cricket score for Shakers if they get their act together, then feed off the returning confidence. Southend have been tonked 4-0 on the road three times already this season.
With that in mind, there’s no need to be shy. Split a point between the Bury 4-0 and Bury 5-0 correct scores at 66/1 and 200/1 respectively. David Flitcroft’s men eased up when 2-0 up at the break against a decent Wimbledon side in the FA Cup last weekend. If they find themselves in the same position here, they might just keep going until they’re out of sight.£10 Free Credit and a £500 Deposit Bonus
