Morecambe v Plymouth - Saturday 15:00
Plymouth’s sudden inability to defend crosses into the box is threatening to derail their blistering start to the season. Their seven-point cushion over Carlisle a week ago has now been cut to just three following successive home defeats to Grimsby (0-3) and Barnet (0-2). However, a trip to the Globe Arena presents an ideal opportunity to get back on track.
Morecambe’s problems are much publicised. With wages paid late in October, star player Tom Barkuizen had his contract terminated by mutual consent and Jim Bentley has made no secret of the fact he would like to put his players up in a hotel before home games. Instead, many of them spend an hour of their pre-match build-up navigating heavy traffic.
The Shrimps are perennial strugglers at this level but usually hit the ground running and bag some impressive early results that enable them to keep the relegation at arm’s length for much of the campaign. However, Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Crewe saw them slip to the bottom of the table for the first time in over six years. Now they could, quite conceivably, sink without trace.
With that in mind, let’s pursue the very real possibility that Plymouth take their frustrations of the last two matches out here and dish out a battering. You can get 21/10 about the visitors on the -1 handicap and 7/1 about over 3.5 away team goals. You can’t argue with the value of either price, Morecambe have conceded at least twice in their last nine matches.£10 Free Credit and a £500 Deposit Bonus
