PSG v Metz - Sunday 19:45, BT Sport 3
We got our first look at PSG in the post Zlatan/Lauren Blanc era during their hard-fought 1-0 in Corsica last weekend. What was noticeable was how high the full-backs played as Unai Emery almost adopted a 2-4-3-1 formation rather than a 4-2-3-1. At home against a newly promoted Metz it would be surprising if Emery wasn’t equally as aggressive.
Metz started off with a fantastic 3-2 home win against last season 5th placed Lille, though they were lucky only to be a goal down at half-time as Lille missed a host of chances. They won’t get away with this in Paris where they couldn’t have asked for a tougher away assignment. PSG were dominant at home last year, losing just one game all season and given Metz went W1-D5-L13 on the road when getting relegated back in 2014/15 it doesn’t bode well for the minnows.
It’s not a case of whether the Parisians will win here but more a case of by how many. Particularly when you consider that 11 of their 15 home wins last term were by at least three clear goals. Five of their last six against promoted sides saw at least four strikes so, with that in mind, we’ll have a bit of Over 3.5 goals at 2.35.
Last week it was no surprise to see left-back Layvin Kurzawa break the deadlock given the nature of Emery’s tactics. With the full-backs expected to bomb on once again it’s worth having a few quid onKurzawa or Serge Aurier at right-back to get on the scoresheet.
