Monaco v PSG - Sunday 19:45, BT Sport 2
Monaco are third favourites to lift the Ligue 1 trophy this year but at 26.00 the odds aren't exactly promising. Their opponents are no longer than 1.10 to win a fifth consecutive title, while perennial early Naughties victors Lyon are sandwiched between these two at a promising 9.00.
Monaco rested most of their team ahead of their Champions League play-off with Villarreal when they travelled to Nantes last week but they’ll have to be at full strength if they want to challenge Unai Emery’s juggernaut. Monaco have beaten PSG just once since they returned to the top-division in 2013/14. They’ve finished in the Champions League spots in each of those seasons but the Parisians have had no problems dispatching even the best teams in the league.
They’ve won 17 out of 30 against other teams that finished in the top-six over the past three seasons including over half of their away matches. Six of their eight away wins have been despite going into the break level and they’re generally happy to wear teams down and wait till the second half to strike. 13 of their 20 away matches since the start of last season have been level at half-time as they’ve scored just 11 first-half goals but 33 in the second 45.
Monaco might be able to hold off the champions early on but will struggle for the full 90. A half-time stalemate and PSG victoryis a juicy 4.75 in one of the biggest games across Europe this weekend.
