Toulouse v PSG - Friday 19:45, BT Sport EXTRA
Toulouse continued their excellent form under Pascal Dupraz, who came in to save them from relegation at the end of last season, as they beat Lille on Tuesday night to make it 11 points from six games. PSG were also victorious earlier in the week as they’ve now won their last two by an aggregate of 9-0 after a testing spell where they were beaten by Monaco and could only draw at home to St Etienne and Arsenal.
Toulouse have a W8-D5-L3 record under Dupraz, having won only four of their opening 28 games last term prior to his arrival. Indeed, they’ve won six of the seven of these games that were at home whilst keeping four clean sheets, as Lyon were the only side to beat them in a thrilling encounter that ended up 2-3 after the visitors netted a late winner.
Though PSG have won their last two, they’ve been against Caen, who are struggling down in 14th at the moment, and promoted Dijon, who are down in 18th. This should prove a much stiffer test and since they’ve only won one of their last four on the road by more than one goal, we’re backing Toulouse +1 on the Asian Handicap here, which means we get our money back if they lose by one goal, but if they draw or win our bet’s a winner.
What’s more, since the first half has been level in four of Toulouse’s last five at home whilst PSG have only led at the break in three of their last 11 on the road, we’re also going to back the half-time draw as we expect the champions to have to work hard if they’re going to come out on top here.
