Sunderland v Middlesbrough - Sunday 13:30, Sky Sports 1
David Moyes will feel a little unlucky not to take home a point from their opening fixture against title contenders Manchester City, but a home match against Middlesbrough represents a decent opportunity for his Sunderland side to get off the mark this season.
With the focus on keeping Sunderland in the division, David Moyes will set Sunderland up in a similar manner to Big Sam and make them tough to beat. However, the loss of Yann M’Vila after his loan spell does not help in this regard, and Moyes will be desperate to find a suitable replacement before the transfer window shuts, whilst holding on to key centre-half Lamine Kone if he can.
Sunderland’s activity in the market has been limited due to the uncertainty before Allardyce’s appointment as England manager, but in contrast their opponents this weekend have been more productive, with Fabio da Silva the 10th new face so far this summer. The Gaston Ramirez-Alvaro Negredo axis will be key for Middlesbrough, with that duo combining last weekend to score against Stoke, and Negredo – who has Premier League experience from his time in Manchester – can be backed at 3.55 to score anytime.
