Rangers v Celtic - Sunday 12:00, Sky Sports 1
We have our second Old Firm Derby of the season as Rangers and Celtic clash in the League Cup semi-final, with Celtic having thumped Mark Warburton’s men 5-1 at Celtic Park already in the league. That was one of seven victories in their eight SPL games that has seen them open up a four point lead at the top of the table already, and with a game in hand.
Rangers have to go back to March 2012 for the last time they tasted victory against their bitter rivals, but that was at the Ibrox Stadium whereas this’ll be played at Hamden Park. There were three red cards shown in that Rangers win, while Phillipe Senderos saw red when these two met back in September, and we’d recommend backing another red card to be shown when the market goes live.
Celtic are clearly the superior side and in their frustration we think there’s a good chance that the Rangers players might make some rash challenges. Celtic look a fair price to win at 1.67 but since they’ve already scored 26 goals in the league, thanks to the likes of Dembele and Sinclair, we’re backing Brendan Rodgers’ men to cover the -1 handicap at 2.85.
