Clean sheets have been hard to come by for these two, so expect goals on Sunday night.
Sampdoria v Inter - Sunday 19:45, BT Sport 2
Sampdoria were roundly beaten midweek away to Juventus, conceding two soft goals in the first 10 minutes before attempting a fight back in the second half that ended in a 4-1 defeat. It was their fifth defeat in eight games, though they were unbeaten in their last three prior to Wednesday’s result. Almost everyone will lose away at Juventus (they’ve won their last 21 at home), and so Marco Giampaolo’s team should be able to put the defeat out of their mind as they head into this game.
Things haven’t been going so great for Inter themselves, who had to rely on a Joe Hart fumble to forge a path to victory over Torino. Mauro Icardi’s brace may have had the dual effect of saving Frank de Boer’s job as well as pacifying the fans’ upset with their captain. He now has eight goals in nine Serie A games, and in every game that he has scored (five) it has been Inter’s first of the match. At a price of 3.0 we think he represents good value to score Inter’s first goal, especially as he has five goals in Inter’s last six matches against Sampdoria.
Clean sheets have been hard to come by for these two sides, with both teams having scored in 10 of Inter’s last 12 matches and in each of Sampdoria’s last five. Inter have conceded at least two goals in five of their last seven away games, whilst Sampdoria have kept only one clean sheet in their last 14. However, they’ve conceded exactly one goal in six of their last seven at home so aren’t exactly being torn to shreds and with Inter’s current struggles this could easily back that ‘overs’ trend and we’ll leave the market alone.
