The quarter-finals continue! Today we have England v Sweden & Russia v Croatia.
World Cup Daily Double
England win to nil v Sweden
Unsurprisingly for a team that have witnessed so many goalless first halves, Sweden have primarily been involved in low-scoring games with seven of their last 10 featuring just one goal or less. Nine of England’s last 13 victories have been without conceding, and opportunities for Sweden will be limited unless they can be more expansive – which is only going to happen if they fall behind. However, we don’t fancy their chances, and complacency aside, England should complete the job and win to nil.
Croatia to beat Russia
Croatia have won five of their eight unbeaten major tournament matches (at 90 minutes) since the start of Euro 2016 and they should make their possession count more than the Spanish did. In fact, when playing teams ranked between 25th and 40th in FFL's rankings Croatia have won four of their last five unbeaten matches. Russia meanwhile, have lost six of their last eight winless games against teams FFL rank in the top 20, as they’ve lost to nil in half of them.
