Zonderland (4.30) is a confident selection to take the Celebration Mile at Goodwood for last year’s winning trainer Clive Cox. This is a far from straightforward task as he takes on an extremely progressive horse in Thikriyaat and a rock solid Group 2 animal in Toormore, but Clive has never made any secret of his regard for Zonderland and I thought he started to look like he was putting it all together at Salisbury last time. Frankie Dettori has been booked and, provided Arod sets a nice swinging gallop, Zonderland should be right on the premises late on.
The Revival Stakes (3.20) is a very difficult race with 20 runners but the old draw bias towards the far side at Goodwood seems a strong as ever and we know how important it is on the 7f track. With that in mind, I think Rivellino is an interesting runner given he’s run well twice in Stewards’ Cups, he’s got a very promising apprentice booked and he’s got a great draw in stall 3.
I’m following this horse over a cliff but I’m going in again with Goldmember in the Listed March Stakes (3.55), in the hope that he’s as big a price as he was the last twice I tipped him. For all that he let me down financially, he certainly hasn’t put me off him as a project and this is a slightly easier race against exposed older horses. I thought he ran much better than his finishing position suggests last time and this trip should be ideal.
The Beverley Bullet (3.10) looks a warm heat in which many can be fancied, but I’m firmly in Line Of Reason camp. Paul Midgley’s 6yo has some very good form at this track and he’s been shaping like he’s about to hit some form.
