Gareth Freeman is keen on a points spread punt in Sunday's game at the Oracle Arena.
San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors - Sunday 20:30 BT Sport 1
Golden State Warriors are yet to really be tested in the postseason after sweeping both Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz but Western Conference Finals opponents San Antonio Spurs are a different proposition.
The Spurs won the regular season series 2-1 but unfortunately we can’t read too much into that; key players were rested and neither wanted to give too much away in anticipation of a playoff meeting. As such, Sunday’s Game 1 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland is the first time these two contenders have really played each other this season.
Golden State are at virtually full strength for San Antonio’s visit and the Spurs have two big fitness issues. Star guard Tony Parker is definitely missing and Kawhi Leonard is a doubt with an ankle injury, although reports suggest he will be fit for Game 1 without any confirmation from coach Gregg Popovich. San Antonio did manage to demolish Houston Rockets without Leonard last time out but there can be no hiding from the fact the Spurs are a much better team when he is on court.
The contrasting styles of Western Conference top seeds GSW and the second seeded Spurs should make for an intriguing series and some hard fought games. The fact the Warriors have played four games less so far in the playoffs could be a deciding factor as the series progresses but the opener may well be a close one, so the +10.5 for San Antonio in the point spread looks generous and the way to go in Game 1.
