As we head into Week 10 of the NFL season, we are exactly halfway through the regular season. Each team has played either 8 or 9 games, depending on bye week placement. As such, we have a reasonably sized sample from which to evaluate how players are performing this year. Let's take a closer look at which quarterbacks have stood out through nine weeks of NFL action.

NFL Quarterback Rankings
1. Patrick Mahomes (KC) - MVP Odds (+195) Bet $100 to collect $295 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Mahomes is arguably playing the best football of his career, and that's saying a lot. Kansas City's franchise QB leads the league in touchdown passes and passing yards per game with 21 and 325.6, respectively. Sitting at a 6-2 record, the Chiefs are tied for the top seed in the AFC. Mahomes has been the main driver of his team's success since he entered the league, and he has a solid chance to bring home his second-career MVP award if he continues his form of play.
2. Josh Allen (BUF) - MVP Odds (+260) Bet $100 to collect $360 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Josh Allen had his worse showing of the season last week against the Jets, one that necessitated a bump down to the second spot on the list. He completed just 18 of 34 pass attempts for no touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and 205 yards. Despite the bad performance, Allen still ranks top-3 on the year in terms of passing touchdowns, quarterback rating, and passing yards per game. He is a transcendent talent and has played at an extremely high level for most of the year, but his occasional inconsistencies leave him a shade below Mahomes.
3. Jalen Hurts (PHI) - MVP Odds (+300) Bet $100 to collect $400 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
The Philadelphia Eagles are the only undefeated team in the NFL, and their offense's unrelenting efficiency has been a primary driver of that success. Hurts has done his part and then some, throwing for 12 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions on the year. He has the second-highest passer rating in the league, while his quarterback rating ranks sixth. Hurts has also been a valuable threat on the ground, running for an average of 40.8 yards per game and 6 touchdowns. Given the talent on Philly's roster, it's difficult for me to put Hurts above the top two QBs on the list, both of whom have proven time and time again their ability to elevate the pieces around them. Still, Hurts has been superb this year, and he deserves ample praise.

4. Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) - MVP Odds (+700) Bet $100 to collect $800 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Miami's offense has been perhaps the most potent in the entire league of late, and there's no denying that Tua has played a role. He leads the league in terms of quarterback rating and passer rating, demonstrating above all else the ability of this new offensive scheme to maximize the pieces within it. Particularly, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have been tremendous, ranking first and fifth respectively in total receiving yards. However, the ease with which the weapons in this offense consistently get open prevents me from ranking Tua higher on the list. His counting and efficiency statistics are excellent, but the fact that he has arguably the easiest job of any passer in the league means that the true difference-makers deserve to be ranked more favorably.
5. Lamar Jackson (BAL) - MVP Odds (+1200) Bet $100 to collect $1300 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Despite a receiving core that consists of practice squad-caliber misfits and washed-up veterans, Lamar Jackson has put together a solid campaign, his best since his MVP year. He has thrown 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, and his quarterback rating of 64.3 ranks fifth in the NFL. Even with Mark Andrews missing time, the Ravens have managed to score the fifth-most points per game (26.1). Much of that is because of Lamar's prowess as a rusher—he ranks first in the league (among all players, not just quarterbacks) with 7.4 rushing yards per attempt, netting him 635 total rushing yards on the season. The Ravens are 6-3 with a defense that has looked average at best and a receiving core that leaves much to be desired; I give a lot of credit to Lamar.
6. Geno Smith (SEA) - MVP Odds (+2200) Bet $100 to collect $2300 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Geno Smith, once an afterthought who looked likely to wash out of the NFL, has taken the league by storm this season. Smith has been remarkably effective, completing a league-leading 73.1% of his passes for 244.3 yards per game, 15 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions. He ranks third in passer rating and fourth in QB rating, which makes (some) sense when you realize that the Seahawks have scored the fourth-most points per game (26.8). Is some regression to the mean likely for Smith? Probably. But for now, I think it would serve us well to sit back, enjoy the ride, and appreciate the rarity of a career backup transforming into a viable starter in his ninth(!) NFL season.
7. Joe Burrow (CIN) - MVP Odds (+2000) Bet $100 to collect $2100 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Last week, the Bengals turned in a truly dominant performance against the Panthers, winning 42-21 in a game where Cincy could have scored 70. They took their foot off the gas in the third quarter, but Burrow was excellent when he needed to be. I have never been Burrow's biggest fan, but his play this year is definitely forcing me to reconsider my prior in this case. Joe Burrow is quietly putting together his best season as an NFL starter yet. His 18 touchdown passes rank third in the league—just behind Mahomes and Allen—and he has the fifth-best passer rating at 102.6. The Bengals have won three of their last four, putting them within shouting distance of the division-leading Ravens in the AFC North.
8. Justin Herbert (LAC) - MVP Odds (+4000) Bet $100 to collect $4100 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Heading into the year, many people, myself included, expected a breakout, MVP-caliber season from Herbert. While that hasn't materialized due to a variety of factors, the least of which is the fact that the Chargers' roster has been decimated by injuries (specifically on the offensive side of the ball), Herbert has still played quite well. He ranks top 10 in touchdown passes, passing yards per game, and QB rating. The Chargers are 5-3 despite suffering just about the worst injury luck I have ever witnessed, and Herbert deserves a significant amount of credit for managing to pull out those wins.
9. Kirk Cousins (MIN) - MVP Odds (+4000) Bet $100 to collect $4100 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
Cousins is an interesting player to rank, given the nature of how he plays the quarterback position. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes, although the ones that he does make tend to be backbreakers. He lacks the upside of the elite passers, but from a statistical standpoint, he has been among the better QBs in the league for quite some time. With Minnesota's offense ranking top-10 by most relevant metrics, Cousins deserves a spot on this list. He has thrown for 13 touchdowns, six interceptions, and 249.9 passing yards per game, leading the Vikings to an NFC North-leading 7-1 in the process. I do not see him as a top-tier quarterback, but he has been more than capable of executing Minnesota's new offensive system to a tee.
10. Trevor Lawrence (JAX) - MVP Odds (+30000) Bet $100 to collect $30,100 Click here for the best odds, available at FanDuel
I wasn't sure who most deserved the final spot on the list, and landed on the first overall pick from just two years ago. Lawrence has been solid this season—he has thrown for 11 touchdowns and 6 picks while completing 64.3% of his passes. The Jaguars are 3-6, yes, but much of that has to do with how bad their defense has been. It's also worth noting that Lawrence does not have much help—a receiving core of Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Marvin Jones is underwhelming, to say the least.
