Former manager Scott Servais was relieved of his duties as the team hoped that would give them a spark to turn things around. Unfortunately for the Mariners, the struggles have continued.
Seattle trails the first-place Houston Astros by 6.5 games in the AL West and it would take a miracle for the Mariners to make the postseason this season.
Seattle has lost four consecutive games coming into Wednesday's matchup with the A's.
Julio Rodriguez leads the team with a .259 batting average on the season. When your best hitter is getting a hit just over 25% of the time, you're in trouble.
Catcher Cal Raleigh has been a bright spot for Seattle, blasting 28 home runs while knocking in 84 runs. Jorge Polanco has added 13 home runs and 37 RBIs.
