I absolutely love this bet, and I am far from a rebound prop lover. On first glance this is a bad bet. Gobert has failed to hit this in six of his last seven games, and 12 rebounds feels like a lot. Upon further evaluation, I think he gets us home tonight.
Rebounding props are all about matchups. The closer the player you’re defending is to the basket, the more likely you will be in position to haul in a rebound. Sabonis is a capable shooter of course, but will spend a good chunk of time near the basket with Gobert on him.
Sacramento allows the 7th most rebounds to the Center position, and Gobert has great history vs Sabonis. Gobert has hit 13+ rebounds in eight of his last nine against Sabonis, and he actually has 14+ in seven of his last nine against him. All we need is 12. Last year, Gobert had 14+ in all four matchups.
This game projects to be close with just a four-point spread, so hopefully Rudy gets to play his usual minutes and be a rebounding machine tonight. He owes us after the first time we bet this anyway, happy to collect our money back. Let's roll!
