Steven Crowl has been one of the more reliable pieces of this Wisconsin roster for the last four years. He’s coming off a 15 point performance against the Cavaliers where he shot 70% from the field and looked unstoppable. If Crowl can drop 25 against UVA’s elite defense, imagine what he’s going to do against SMU tonight…
Crowl has a great matchup tonight against the Mustangs, who struggle to defend in the paint. They just gave up 18 points to Jesse Edwards, a season high for West Virginia’s big man who shot the ball 2x more than his usual output. This SMU defense is weak in the interior, and I’m fully expecting Crowl to take advantage of this tonight.
This Wisconsin team has some new-found confidence coming off a big win at Virginia. Crowl had his best game offensively, even getting involved from deep with a three. I’m fully expecting the Badgers to lean on their big man tonight against a small SMU team that’s been getting destroyed in the paint.
SMU does a good job containing guards on the perimeter with their athletic backcourt. I don’t think Chucky Hepburn will be as effective as the public expects tonight. The Badgers will have no choice but to feed the ball into the paint to Crowl early and often in this contest. Bet Crowl to score more than 13 points tonight. He’s going to drop his first 20 piece of the season against this weak interior SMU defense.
