For the second year in a row, the Oregon has caught the injury bug. Three of the Ducks are questionable for tonight’s game against 6-2 California Baptist.

Will Oregon be able to overcome these injuries on the way to their sixth cover of the season, or will the Lancers show some heart and keep this one within the number?
Cal Baptist might not have Taran Armstrong anymore, but I don’t know if this team has ever looked better. The Lancers are 6-2 and although they’ve had an easy schedule up to this point, they match up great with the Ducks whether Dante, Bittle or Zarzuela play tonight or not.
The Lancers do two things well: shoot threes and play defense. Their defensive efficiency is actually better than the Ducks, sitting at 83rd in the country. They also shoot 36% from deep, ranked 77th in the nation. Oregon has struggled to defense the three this season, ranked 201st out of 362 D1 teams in opposing three-point percentage.
Dominique Daniels Jr. averaged nearly 24 points per game in his freshman season before transferring to CBU in 2023. He is by far the best scorer on this team, averaging 18 points per game. The sophomore from Compton is coming off his best career game, dropping a 30 piece against Utah Tech.
Coach Croy runs one of the slowest offenses in basketball, good enough for the 321st-most possessions per game. Don’t be surprised if the Lancers find a way to control the tempo in this game, slowing the Ducks down and bringing them out of their comfort zone.
I’ve been waiting for the right spot to back this team in the post-Taran Armstrong era. Fade the Ducks at home against the scrappy Lancers in Tuesday’s late-night matchup between two west-coast squads.
