After (hopefully) cashing on Providence as short home underdogs against Marquette, it’s time to move onto the late night play. There’s a late-night college basketball matchup that caught my eye on ESPN+ with a 10pm ET tip-off.

Although a matchup between South Dakota and Cal State Bakersfield might not get you out of bed in the morning, it can surely pay the bills. These two teams played against each other less than two weeks ago, when South Dakota got the best of CSB in a 78-73 home win.
Bakersfield got out to an atrocious start in this game. They were down 30-46 at halftime, and had to crawl their way back into it before falling just short. They shot 3 of 17 from three against South Dakota, and still outscored them 43-32 in the second half and almost pulled off the miracle comeback. I’m willing to bet Bakersfield carries that momentum into tonight’s rematch.
I’d be shocked if the Roadrunners shoot 18% from three like they did at South Dakota in the first matchup. They even out-rebounded the Coyotes by ten in that first contest. Bakersfield fouled too much early on, and dug themselves too big of a whole to climb out of, but with the momentum they created in the second half, Kaleb Higgins and the Roadrunners should have plenty of confidence to get their revenge on the Coyotes.
Speaking of Kaleb Higgins, he will be the best player on the court tonight. With Bakersfield playing at home (where they have yet to lose this season), the advantage in this contest flips to the Roadrunners. If they shoot less than 20% from deep, I’ll charge it to the game, but Cal State Bakersfield held strong against Fresno State on the road in a tight battle in their last game, losing by only three South Dakota just gave up 121 points to a struggling UC Irvine team. Fade South Dakota on the road against the Roadrunners in a revenge spot.
