Last year was College of Charleston’s breakout season. Pat Kelsey’s Cougars went 31-4, earned a CAA Championship and lost to the National Champion runner-up San Diego State Aztecs in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Most importantly, they went 20-13-1 ATS, significantly over performing the betting market.

Saint Joseph's vs. College of Charleston Prediction
2023 has been a different story for the Cougars, who dropped three straight games at the start of the season. College of Charleston already has as many losses this season as they did last season, and it’s not even Christmas yet. They’ll have their hands full tonight against a really good Saint Joseph’s team that is 9-2 on the season and against the spread.
This College of Charleston team is much better than their record depicts. They lost only one game at home last season, and although they got off to a slow start, they are 4-0 at the TD Arena in Charleston this season. The Cougars have been one of the best teams at home under Pat Kelsey since he took over in 2021.
Although this team might not have as much talent as they did last season, they are still extremely deep. Coach Kelsey has always liked to run a deep rotation, and this year it’s been no different. This team is finally starting to find its groove, with freshman James Scott upping his production over the last few games. This team also has a lethal three-point shooter in Reyne Smith who will be going back and forth with Erik Reynolds all night.
This Saint Joe's team is very small, and has been playing without 7’0” Providence transfer Christ Essandoko for the last month. I doubt we see him back out there today, which will cause issues for the Hawks defense against this big Charleston team. Three of the Cougars top four scorers this season are forwards. Saint Joe's is very guard-heavy, not a recipe for success against the Cougars at home.
College of Charleston opened-up a 1.5-point favorite before getting steamed up to -3 on some books. I’m willing to bet College of Charleston earns their fourth-straight home win in a row against a St. Joes team that’s been a cash cow ATS this season, but has a terrible matchup against a team on the “come-up” after a terrible start to the season. Fade St. Joes, and back the red-hot Cougars looking to stay perfect at home.
