Tonight, two A-10 teams face off in their first conference game of the season as the George Mason Patriots take on the La Salle Explorers in Philadelphia. George Mason vs. La Salle Prediction
George Mason is finally starting to get the respect they deserve. The Patriots are 11-2 with some big outright wins against Tulane and Toledo. This is exactly when we want to fade this George Mason team. They will be traveling to La Salle for their conference opener thinking this game will be a walk in the park. Luckily for the Explorers, they match up well with the Patriots.
La Salle can shoot the three ball, especially at home. George Mason struggles to defend the three, ranked 213th in opposing three-point percentage this season. La Salle’s top five scorers are all guards. Four of them shoot better than 32% from three, and two of them shoot over 43% from three.
Jhamir Brickus, the 5’11” senior, is one of those guards who shoots greater than 43% from deep. He will be the guy for La Salle tonight; he is their best three-point shooter and their best player Khalil Brantley doesn’t shoot as well from deep. George Mason is very susceptible to giving up the three-ball. I’m willing to bet Brickus leads the team in scoring today, soaring over his points prop.
All the talk around the A-10 has been centered around George Mason, but La Salle looked sharp this season until their last game when they lost to Howard as -7.5 point favorites. I’m fully expecting the Explorers to bounce back at home in their first conference game of the season. They match up very well with the Patriots, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they win outright tonight.
