Don’t look now, but the Arizona State Sun Devils have won and covered four games in a row as underdogs. After a slow start to the season, ASU is now 10-5 and undefeated in conference play. How long will their hot-streak last? I’m willing to bet it ends tonight.

I was shocked when I saw Washington open up -7.5 point favorites against the streaking Sun Devils, but then I remembered that this is college basketball. If you bet the lines and not the teams, you will profit long-term. Washington opened up this heavy of a favorite for a reason, and with the total moving up, this one is trending towards a blowout.
The Huskies on the spread isn’t the only play I like in this game. Jose Perez has struggled to find a productive role on his new team since transferring from Manhattan. He’s been extremely inconsistent, dropping 20 points one night and only three in the next game.
There are simply too many mouths to feed in this ASU backcourt, and with Frankie Collins and Jamiya Neal’s props getting bumped up, they can’t all go over, especially if Washington is blowing them out.
If Arizona State wants to keep this game close, they are going to have to find success inside the paint, not from their guards. Washington’s interior defense is poor, with their center Franck Kepnang still out due to injury and many offensive-minded forwards trying to fill his void. I’d be shocked if the Sun Devils light it up from deep like they have been on their four-game win-streak tonight. That won’t even be their gameplan.
Jose Perez’s 26 point performance against Utah the other night was an anomaly. I’m willing bet he goes under his points projection tonight, scoring less than 13.5 points on the way to Arizona State’s first loss of the new year. It’s going to be hard for Perez to go off when the ASU starters get benched in a blowout. Back the Huskies on the spread, and bet on Jose Perez to score less than 13.5 points against them tonight and I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
