Indiana has already lost a game at home this season. They lost by four to Kansas, who at the time was the second-ranked team in the country. Their home arena, Assembly Hall, has been known as the toughest road venue to play at in the country. Coming off a road loss to Rutgers, I’m willing to bet the Hoosiers bounce back at home tonight.
Minnesota is on a legacy run right now. They have the best ATS record in the country, but playing on the road in the Big Ten is a different animal. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past, all that matters is how loud the Indiana crowd will be at Assembly Hall. Minnesota’s legacy run will come to an end on Friday night against the Hoosiers.
Kel’el Ware is the x-factor in this matchup tonight. The 7’0” transfer from Oregon is a matchup nightmare for this Minnesota team that lacks a true big man. Ware had 17 rebounds against a big Rutgers team in Indiana’s recent loss. If Indiana’s big man plays anything like he did against Rutgers tonight, Minnesota won’t be able to get a single rebound.
On paper, seeing Indiana as a -4.5 favorite is a head-scratcher, but Indiana is one of the best teams at home in the country. I’m willing to bet they bounce back after two losses in their last three games.
