Ole Miss vs. LSU Prediction
Ole Miss has been on fire early this season with a 15-1 record and a SEC Conference record of 2-1 beating Florida and Vanderbilt, and losing to Tennessee as their only loss of the season. Ole Miss is averaging 77.6 PPG led by four of their players in double figures on average. After that, they kind of fall off in the scoring category.
The Rebels are not very deep, but man can they get hot. As a team, they shoot 7.8 threes per game, yet hit 40.1% of those which is sixth best in the nation. They are above average in three point attempts compared to the rest of the nation, and the are effective behind the arc. With that being said, most of their shots will be threes, or mid-range jumpers. They do not get inside the paint much.
This will not change tonight as LSU is big and defend the paint well. Keep your eyes on No.5 Jaylen Murray tonight as I expect him to distribute the ball well, and I can see him knocking down a few threes tonight.
As for LSU, this team has been performing good as of late winning the last four of their five games. LSU is 10-6 overall, and 2-1 in SEC play beating Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, yet losing to the red-hot Auburn Tigers in their last game out. LSU is led by guards Jordan Wright and Jalen Cook, but do not forget about 7 footer Will Baker. Baker has a good matchup tonight as Ole Miss is not real big, and they do not defend the paint well.
LSU also has a significant rebound advantage tonight to piggy-back on Ole Miss not being real big. LSU will dominate the glass and get multiple second chance points tonight because of that fact. On the other side of the ball, this Tiger team is scrappy. They force 9.8 steals per game which is 17th best in the nation. Typically, this Ole Miss team plays slow and composed, but is LSU can make Ole Miss play fast and force them to make some costly turnovers, I like LSU's chances tonight.
If LSU can stop these Ole Miss guards and dominate the glass, I think they can get it done tonight. I think that Will Baker and Jordan Wright will have good games tonight on both ends of the floor. This is a big game for the Tigers tonight, and starting off conference play at 3-1 for this LSU team would be a great momentum boost for the rest of the season. Matt McMahon will have his team ready to battle tonight, and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center will be a big factor tonight. I would not be surprised if LSU wins by 5+ tonight!
