Duke vs. Virginia Tech Betting Pick: Should You Back Sean Pedulla, Hokies at Home Against Duke?

I knew this day would come. I’ve been patiently waiting to back my alma mater, Virginia Tech, after a brutally slow start to the season. After ripping off three straight wins, it’s time to bet on them to do what they always do: beat Duke at home.

DUKE VS. VIRGINIA TECH DATE, TIME, AND WHERE TO WATCH

  • Date: January 29, 2024

DUKE VS. VIRGINIA TECH PREDICTION

You wouldn’t expect this, but Cassell Coliseum is known to be one of the toughest places to play in the country. Mike Young has done a great job of getting the most out of his players at home; they just seem more comfortable shooting there.

The Hokies have gotten the better of Duke in recent history. They’ve beaten the Blue Devils three of the last five times they’ve played them. Duke has lost the last three times they’ve played in Blacksburg, Virginia. We all know Coach Scheyer and his young team has struggled on the road for the past two seasons. Kyle Filipowski and the Blue Devils are going to have their hands full down in southwest Virginia.

If Virginia Tech doesn’t go at least 1-1 against Duke at home and Miami on the road this weekend, they can kiss their auto-bid to March Madness goodbye. Mike Young knows it, senior Hunter Cattoor knows it, and the Hokie-faithful most certainly know it. It’s worth noting that this will be Cattoor’s final home game against the Blue Devils. This team’s leader will have his boys fired up behind him tonight

Buy-low on the Hokies before it’s too late. Over their three-game win streak, we’ve finally seen this team play up to their potential. People forget this is a team that won the ACC tournament only two years ago. Mike Young’s Hokies play their best basketball late in the season.

Duke has a big game against their rival UNC this weekend, and I’m sure they’re already started dreaming of what it’s going to look like when they hand them their first loss. If the Tarheels don’t take Virginia Tech seriously tonight, the most underrated guard combo in the country (Cattoor and Sean Pedulla) will catch them sleeping at home once again. Back Virginia Tech on the spread tonight, but don’t be surprised when they win this game outright.
