Virginia Tech sits at 13-7 with a 5-4 record in conference play. Tonight will be a good matchup, and will be crucial for ACC standings as Duke can climb in on North Carolina tonight with a win.

Duke has been a force this year, yet have struggled on the road with their record being 3-2. In ACC play, Duke has beat Syracuse, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Clemson, yet losing to Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh in their second matchup. The Blue Devils are led by sophomore big man Kyle Filipowski who leads the team in points per game, rebounds per game, and blocks per game. Filipowski is crucial to this Duke team as he is one of the better players in the nation, and he's just a sophomore. Filipowski averages 17.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG, and 1.9 BPG. Although he has been crushing it this season, he will have a tough matchup tonight versus this scrappy Hokies team.
Virginia Tech has been amazing at home with a record of 10-1. The Cassell Coliseum is one of the toughest places to play in the nation, but nobody really talks about that. This Hokies team is led by junior guard Sean Pedulla and senior center Lynn Kidd. Kidd versus Filipowski will be a matchup to watch tonight down in the paint and on the glass. Virginia Tech plays a little slower in their pace, and they average only 74.7 PPG. With that being said, they pick their shots, and get what they want as it seems that they do not force much. They like to shoot the three, and shoot it well at a 36.6% rate. A big plus to their game is their free throw percentage where they are second in the nation shooting 83.3% from the stripe as this will be a close game and free throws will be a factor tonight.
