HOUSTON VS. TEXAS PREDICTION
After an unbelievable 2022-2023 season, Texas has yet to put it all together in the new year. They’ve lost three of their last five games and are currently 6-14 ATS this season. Like I said, this team needs a big win like they need air.
Texas has the bodies to hang with this physical Houston team. Dylan Disu, Dillon Mitchell and Kadin Shedrick pose as an interesting opponent for Houston. They will have the size advantage, and they are one of the few teams in the country that is physical enough to hang with Houston.
Let’s not overreact to the Longhorns' most-recent loss. BYU presents one of the toughest road-venues in the country, and before that loss, Texas seemed to be playing much better. They did just dominate Oklahoma on the road and beat Baylor at home the game before that…
Don’t get me wrong, Houston is one of the best teams in the country, but the sportsbooks know that too. They’ve been losing money on Houston this season, and this spread looks quite short tonight. The public is hammering Houston on the moneyline and spread, but the Longhorns have moved from +5.5 to +4.5 on some books.
This reverse line movement is a great sign for Texas backers. I’m not saying Houston isn’t going to win this game; they probably will. It certainly doesn’t look like they’re winning by more than 5 points, though. Bet the underdog in this spot; Texas needs this win badly and they have the bodies to hang with the red-hot Cougars at home.
