People forget the Hokies had a chance to play for an ACC Championship if they pulled off an upset at Louisville last week. They weren’t able to pull it off, losing by 31 points in embarrassing fashion. Will the Hokies bounce back on the road against the red-hot Eagles up in Boston?

Virginia Tech vs. Boston College Prediction
When I first checked the spread for this game, I was shocked to see the Hokies as the betting favorite. They just got destroyed by Louisville, only able to put up three points. They’re playing Boston College, who just clinched a spot in a bowl game for the postseason. They’ve won five games in a row, and are one of the hottest teams in the ACC right now.
If you look at who the Eagles have been playing, their opponents haven’t been impressive. They’ve beaten Syracuse, UConn, Georgia Tech, Army and UVA on their win streak, five sub-par teams. The Hokies might’ve gotten obliterated last week, but they were playing their best football prior to that loss. They beat Syracuse by 28 (BC beat them by 7), Wake Forest by 17, hung around and covered against FSU and beat PITT outright by 17.
The Hokies are finally starting to show signs of improvement under Brent Pry. Their defense has locked in this year, leading the ACC in sacks in 2023. They have one of the best defensive linemen in the conference, Antwaun Powell-Ryland, who leads the team with nine sacks this season. This defense is here to stay… don’t be surprised if the Hokies catch the Eagles sleeping in the midst of their surprising winning streak.
Thomas Castellanos has taken strides in his first season with the Eagles, but he hasn’t faced a defensive line like this all season. Even if Castellanos tries to win this game with his feet, the Hokies have done a great job limiting mobile quarterbacks in recent weeks. This is a great bounce-back spot for the Hokies after getting embarrassed last week in their most important game of the season. Don’t be surprised if Virginia Tech catches Boston College sleeping at home after five straight wins.
