Louisville vs. Miami Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Jack Plummer Lead the Cardinals to Victory?
We'll watch a good ACC matchup between Louisville and Miami Florida in Week 12 down in the Sunshine State.
The Cardinals are 9-1 SU this season, with their only loss coming on the road in a surprising 38-21 defeat to the 2-8 Pitt Panthers. Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm has done a remarkable job during his first season coaching the Cardinals, leaving Purdue after two consecutive winning years this past offseason. The current Boilermakers team leaves much to be desired, demonstrating the impact of good coaching that Brohm delivers.
On the other sideline, the University of Miami competed with Florida State in all four quarters in Week 11, ultimately falling short 27-20. Head coach Mario Cristobal made an egregious coaching error during the Hurricanes' improbable 23-20 loss to Georgia Tech in early October. The 'Canes started off 4-0 this season, including a 48-33 win over Texas A&M, but Miami has now lost four of its past six games played, returning home to face a balanced Louisville Cardinals team.
Can the Cardinals extend their wins to 10 on the year? Or will Cristobal and the 'Canes end their two-game losing skid following a disappointing two-game road trip? NCAAF handicapper Matt MacKay is here to share his latest prediction and pick for Louisville vs. Miami in Week 12.

Louisville vs. Miami Prediction
Injury-wise, both of these teams are in good position. Louisville is led by quarterback Jack Plummer, but its real stars are running back Jawhar Jordan and wideout Jamari Thrash. Jordan and Thrash has combined for 17 Cardinals touchdowns this season, so Miami will have its hands full on Saturday.
The 'Canes haven't been bad on defense at all. They rank inside the top-40 in opponent points per game allowed (20.7) but its been the offense that has lacked consistency and explosiveness since October began. Cristobal opted for a change at quarterback a few weeks ago, going from Tyler Van Dyke to Emory Williams under center. Williams hasn't looked much more effective, completing 62 percent of pass attempts for three touchdowns and one interception in five games.
Miami's wide receiving corps is its strength, featuring Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, and Colbie Young. A deep running back committee also offers fresh legs into the 'Canes' offense, but this hasn't done much to improve its point generating ability. Miami has accounted for two total touchdowns in its last two games, collectively averaging under 3.8 YPC during this mini-losing skid. Perhaps a return to their home stadium will solve some of these issues for Cristobal and the 'Canes, but Louisville's defense is no pushover.
The Cardinals have only surrendered two total touchdowns across their last three games against Duke, VA Tech, and Virginia. Yes, these aren't impressive offenses to contain, but neither is Miami's offense. Louisville won't take this game lightly following their road loss to Pitt earlier in the season, so with too much uncertainty on Miami's offense, combined with a bad run defense, we're staking two units on Louisville to win outright in a true pick'em.
