It was only a couple of years ago when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Old Dominion University Monarchs were Conference USA rivals. The Hilltoppers always seemed to get the best of the Monarchs, but Old Dominion has a chance to get some revenge on Monday afternoon…
College Football Parlay Picks
Western Kentucky might have the better roster and program, but they are sitting numerous starting offensive linemen and their quarterback, Austin Reed. The Hilltoppers had lofty expectations this season, but they unfortunately fell short. Old Dominion will be the more motivated team in this contest, excited to play in only their third bowl game in program history. They will have their starters out there against Western Kentucky, giving an edge to the Monarchs.
Old Dominion was -3.5 on the spread until this morning, when sharps hammered the Monarchs on the spread up to -6.5. I still want to play Old Dominion, especially with all that sharp action coming in on the Monarchs, but instead of laying it on the spread, let’s pair Old Dominion ML with another bowl game this week.
Frank Harris will be starting the final game of his career for UTSA on Tuesday. He has been one of the most underrated, production-heavy quarterbacks over the last four seasons. I’m sure Harris will be looking to go out with a bang, earning a victory against a depleted Marshall team in his last college football game. It doesn’t hurt that the Roadrunners have moved from -8.5 favorites to -11.5 favorites on most books.
I want action on both of these early-week bowl games, but I don’t want to force bets on the spreads that have already moved significantly. Instead, let’s pair the two teams who I am confident will earn a W in their bowl game this week, Old Dominion and UTSA. Parlaying these two teams on the moneyline gets the odds down to a respectable (-139), which is good enough for me. Although this play might take a while to cash since it pans over two days, it is my most confident college football play early this week.
