Fantasy Football Week 9: Streamers, Sleepers, and Waiver Wire Adds
Streamers are players you can plug and play each week to fill a void in your fantasy football lineups. These players are rostered in a low percentage of leagues and should be available for you to pick up.
I will focus on the best player at each position every week who are rostered in under 50% of leagues. Typically, these will be guys you won’t want to drop too much of your free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) on as they will be mostly short-term solutions.
The hope is that the players listed below will perform well enough to make up for any starters you may have to sit due to injury, suspension, or bye weeks. Maybe they even become viable starters for your fantasy teams going forward.

Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs Houston Texans
Tua Tagovailoa had combined for 6 touchdowns in Weeks 6 and 7. Playing against the Buffalo Bills defense in Week 8, I anticipated a difficult day for Tua. He was held to just 205 passing yards, 0 passing touchdowns, and an interception. If you had to play him, he somewhat salvaged the day with a rushing touchdown.
Week 9 will yield much a better fantasy day. The Houston Texans have given up the 12 most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. They have given up a combined 8 touchdown passes in the last 3 games. The Texans’ defense has allowed multiple touchdowns in each of those last 3 games.
Tua Tagovailoa will likely be available for you to acquire on waivers, especially after his Week 8 performance. Look for Tagovailoa to bounce back in Week 9.
Suggested FAAB: 6%
Additional Week 9 QB Streamer to Consider
- Mac Jones, New England Patriots (@ Carolina Panthers) - FAAB: 4%
Running Back
Latavius Murray, Baltimore Ravens vs Minnesota Vikings
Latavius Murray has 44 or more yards and a touchdown in 2 of his last 3 games. He was ruled out with an ankle injury for the Ravens’ Week 7 matchup against the Bengals. The Ravens then had their bye in Week 8. Murray may be “out of sight, out of mind” for many fantasy managers.
In Week 9, the Ravens will face Murray’s former team, the Minnesota Vikings. Revenge games are often sweet, especially for a running back that has proven he can lead this backfield when given the touches.
If you are in need of a running back for Week 9, the perfect storm appears to be brewing for Latavius Murray. He’s only rostered in 40% of leagues, so rush to your waiver wire and place a bid for him.
Suggested FAAB: 8%
Additional Week 9 RB Streamer to Consider
- Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints (vs Atlanta Falcons) - FAAB: 4%
Wide Receiver
DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins vs Houston Texans
DeVante Parker was a staple for Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins before suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4. He was targeted 7 or more times in his first 4 games of the year.
Parker returned to the field in a big way after missing the last 3 games. He was targeted 11 times! Parker caught 8 of those 11 targets for 85 yards. He did not skip a beat. He was able to produce against the second-best defense versus the wide receiver position. Luckily for Parker, he will have a better matchup in Week 9 than he did in his return last week.
You may have to pay up a bit for him this week as he will likely be someone you start every week. DeVante Parker is rostered in just 35% of leagues. This number is sure to at least double after this week’s waive wire.
Suggested FAAB: 16%
Additional Week 9 WR Streamer to Consider
- Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders (@ New York Giants) - FAAB: 4%
Tight End
Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings @ Baltimore Ravens
Tyler Conklin has been a great target for Kirk Cousins. Conklin has the 11th-most targets and receiving yards among tight ends this year.
He’s coming off back-to-back games with 5 or more targets and 57 or more receiving yards.
The Baltimore Ravens have been awful against tight ends this season. They have given up the most fantasy points to the position. The Ravens have allowed a touchdown to a tight end in 5 of 7 games.
Suggested FAAB: 6%
Additional Week 9 TE Streamer to Consider
- Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs Buffalo Bills) - FAAB: 2%
