St. Louis Blues vs. San Jose Sharks Prediction
Last year was a brutal season for the Blues. The 2019 Stanley Cup Champions nearly knocked off Colorado on their way to the Conference Finals in the 21-22 season before falling a game short and things changed after that; they lost some guys like David Perron in the offseason but overall the team looked like the same and had its core.
They were a top five power play and penalty kill team the year prior returning with most of their weapons and went into the season ready to roll but nothing rolled. They struggled all year long, dumped superstars Ryan O'Reilly and Vladimir Taresenko and the Blues that won the cup were no more.
A slow rebuild may have been anticipate and while early season success means nothing, this team has found something. Head coach Craig Berube has St. Louis playing the Blues hockey of the 2010's and they have turned into a defensively sound squad again. The Notes are currently 8-5-1 having won four of their last five and back-to-back victories over Colorado and Tampa Bay (8-2 and 5-0, respectively) make me think this team is buzzing.
Tonight, they get San Jose who is a lowly 2-13-1 on the season and already just getting pummeled. They have been outscored 14-4 in their last three games, are scoring just 1.31 GPG overall this season (league worst) and are conceding 4.41 GPG (also a league worst.) San Jose is a fade all year for me and with the Blues riding seven consecutive regulation wins over the Sharks into this one, I like the Notes to take advantage of an easy one.
